Melody, lyrics and feel are what guides the work of Matthew Gordon. His work as a solo artist, and with Silvershade Scenery, The Hoppin' Boxcars, The Goose Creek Pioneers, Lost Local Boys, the Barn Swallows, and others, has varied from rock to R&B to folk to bluegrass, but he has always exhibited his unique voice. His projects as a solo artist have given him the freedom to explore his own voice even more deeply, with the assistance of the finest musicians in the Philadelphia area. Matthew has appeared on stage at The Philadelphia Folk Festival, The Locks, Ardmore Music Hall, Chaplin's, and The Mermaid Inn. He is the 2019 winner of the Extreme Folk Society's Songwriting competition, and is a volunteer with Musicians On Call, playing for patients at Philadelphia-area hospitals. He has also kept busy as a sideman, adding dobro, harmonica, mandolin and/or guitar to such luminaries as Sarah & The Arrows, Mr. Fuzzy & The Barbarian, Michael G Ronstadt, The Ronstadt Brothers, Pete Kranz, Ronstadt Generations, Ted The Fiddler, The Turnips, and others. On this track Matthew enlisted the virtuosic assistance of Efrat Shapira (EFRAT) on strings and backing vocals, and Mike Naber on bass, drums and percussion, to bring his new holiday song to life.
