A Bucks County native, Amanda Penecale is a singer-songwriter who writes lyrical Americana with brooding melodies and high country motifs. She’s been writing and recording music since childhood and has always had a passion for storytelling. She became more focused on songwriting in 2007 after becoming a finalist in the Philadelphia Songwriters Project. Penecale grew up playing classical piano, and in her teens discovered folk music.

A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Illustration, Penecale also studied music and creative writing at Brown University. She has opened for or shared the stage with artists such as Catie Curtis, Liz Longley, Justin Townes Earle, and Langhorne Slim. She has performed at legendary venues on the East coast such as the Tin Angel, Club Passim, City Winery and the Bethlehem Musikfest. ​Penecale spent four years in Nashville working on her craft while surrounded by creative and talented collaborators in a band called The Lost Sleep. Since returning to the Philadephia area in 2018, Penecale lives in Ottsville on a small farm where she hosts co-writing workshops, teaches art, and works in freelance illustration and painting.
