Michael G. Ronstadt traverses a mélange of musical styles that range between folk, jazz, classical, Americana and the wildly ethereal. Primarily known for his prowess as a cellist, Michael G. has contributed to hundreds of recordings from accomplished artists around the world, and has also premiered several classical compositions by international composers. He has recorded dozens of albums under his own name or in collaborations with his brother, Petie Ronstadt, his wife, Serenity Fisher, as well as Aaron Nathans. Though he recently relocated to Cincinnatti, Michael G Ronstadt has been an essential part of the Philadelphia music scene for the last decade, and continues to return frequently and contribute to the work of numerous Philadelphia artists, including several on this compilation. On this track Michael has collaborated with St. Mary, St. Michael, the brain child of Tyler Carson, a musician from Nashville, Tennessee. As a lover of music history, Tyler was drawn to the raw, unfiltered story-telling of folk music.
THE NEXT FEW HOURS
Michael G. Ronstadt & St. Mary, St. Michael
IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT
I’M THINKING OF MY SCHEMES
HOW TO GET ON A FLIGHT
FOR NEXT YEAR’S BIG DREAMS
BRING ON THE EGGNOG
BETTER MAKE IT VIRGIN
DON’T NEED TO GET SO DRUNK
SINCE WE NEED TO PLAY IN TUNE
THE ROOM IS LOUDER THAN ONE LONG HOUR AGO
FULL OF OUTER SPACE-GOING, GROUPS OF GOONS
BUT I’LL SOON BE HOME, FAMILY THANKFULLY LOOMS
SHARING TRADITION,
EVER AND NEVER CHANGING,
EVER AND NEVER CHANGING
I REMEMBER BEING YOUNG
SITTING IN THE COOL NIGHT’S AIR
WITH THE MUSIC FLOATING ROUND
WHILE CLOSING MY EYES
I WAS WITHOUT A CARE
OR DESIRE TO CHANGE THINGS
MY PLACE WAS IN THAT SPOT
WHILE THE HARMONIES SANG
IT’S NOW CHRISTMAS EVE
THE FAMILY HAS GATHERED
AND I HAD TO TAKE A LEAVE
FOR TEN LONG HOURS
I’VE NOW GOTTEN HOME
THE FOOD IS ALL BUT GONE
BUT THAT’LL BE JUST FINE
SINCE NO MOOD HAS SOURED
THE ROOM IS LOUDER THAN ONE LONG HOUR AGO
FULL OF LOVING SOULS, THANKFULLY GATHERED
NOW THAT I’M HOME, FAMILY IN THE ROOM
SHARING TRADITION,
EVER AND NEVER CHANGING,
EVER AND NEVER CHANGING
IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT
I’M HANGING ON THE COUCH
GETTING ON A FLIGHT
I WON’T THINK OF NOW
BRING EGGNOG THIS TIME
FULLY LOADED
DON’T NEED TO WORRY A BIT
FOR THE NEXT FEW HOURS
