EFRAT believes in the power of music to transform, to heal, and to create change. This shines through in her performances. Her songs are a blend of many styles – including folk, jazz, pop, klezmer, swing, and blues. Onstage, she combines her lyrical talents with instrumentals that range from simple melodies to humongous soundscapes using her mixer and looper to create a symphony behind either her soaring violin melodies and improvisations or her yearning vocals. Efrat started with violin at age 7 and three years later, she became the youngest person to play solo with the Oak Ridge Symphony. She learned klezmer and Israeli music from her father, dabbled in folk and rock, and took every opportunity to learn and play any other genre. After Efrat became a new mother, she took a break from being a bandleader, and then was recruited into the alt-roots ensemble Spuyten Duyvil for a few years. She still works and records for other bands, but is now back focusing on her own creative musical pursuits with a folk/ jazz combo, an eclectic string quartet, and an eclectic acoustic pop trio. She is also an avid gardener and nature lover!
